Riverside is a vibrant inner-city area of Cardiff, close to the city centre. It has a very diverse population, with many different religions and cultures.

Masjid Uthman and Riverside Islamic School began with classes for the tarbiyah of a handful of students in a private property in Riverside. By the grace of Allah (SWT), the masjid and school were formally established in 2006 to accommodate the growing Muslim community.

Our premises provide space for activities and programmes that benefit all members of the community, including programmes tailored specifically for brothers, sisters and the local youth.

What we do

In addition to the regular daily prayers, our activities include:

• Daily maktab for children aged 4+
• Islamic sciences, e.g. hadith
• Trips away
• Leisure activities for the youth
• Health and wellbeing seminars
• Marriage counselling
• Hajj training seminars
• Bereavement seminars

The next chapter

In 2021 we purchased the former Riverside Conservative Club on Neville Street, to meet the growing need for a larger multipurpose space and provide a suitable environment for a wide range of projects and activities.

Refurbishment is underway, and the community's support is what will finish it.
